Elaine Hendry, 82, of Nampa, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the late evening of October 30, 2017. She was born on December 2, 1934 in Edison, Nebraska to Wayne and Virginia Slonecker. She moved from Nebraska to Melba, Idaho when she was just a few months old; where she grew up and attended school. On March 3, 1951 she married Joseph “Reese” Hendry. They had three wonderful daughters; Colleen, Carla, and Cindy. They were married for 59 years before his passing on October 16, 2010. In 1960 Elaine moved to Nampa, Idaho where she has resided ever since. While living in Nampa, she worked at Dixie Restaurant, Western Idaho Potato, Birdseye, and Shilo Inn. After retiring, Reese and Elaine spent some time traveling in their motor home. She also would spend time reading books and watching Days of Our Lives, but most of all she enjoyed being a wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma, which she did very well. She loved to go shopping especially when her grandkids could accompany her to find all kinds of bargains. She also enjoyed babysitting the grandkids, who called her “Peachy Grandma” or “Nana”. Elaine is survived by her two daughters; Colleen Ortiz and Cindy (Don) Milbourn, her grandchildren; Mark (Angela) Baker, Chad (Susan) Baker, Cody Ortiz, Christy Milbourn, Stacy (Ray) Martinez, and Holly Ward, and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; Reese Hendry, daughter; Carla Baker, grandchildren; Cory Ortiz and Kandi Baker, and her parents; Wayne and Virginia Slonecker.
