Ruby Jean Stokes Hasselbring, 87 of Melba, ID passed away on Saturday February 11, 2017 in Nampa, ID. Ruby was born November 23, 1929 to Ora D. Stokes and Mamie Saner Stokes in Stahl, MO.

Ruby’s family moved to the Melba Valley where she attended Melba schools. Mom married Donald Hasselbring and resided in Boise where they raised 5 children. They were later divorced.
Mom’s loved being a home maker, gardening and cooking. She worked as Chief Mail Clerk while the Legislature was in session for approximately 20 years. Other interests included Cub Scout Den Mother, Kid’s sports & activities and PTA member. Mom loved animals and ran the “Old McDonald’s Farm” petting zoo during the Idaho Western State Fair for many summers.
Another major joy in Mom’s life was spending time at her cabin in Silver City with family and friends. She enjoyed pitching horse shoes, snowmobiling and fishing.
The kids and grandkids benefited from her efforts to teach them a sound work ethic. All had the opportunity to mow her lawn, help with yard work and cooking.

She is survived by her sister Eva Dean Todd (Aunt Tody) of Bend, OR, sons Terry (Mary) Pine, ID, Rob (Carrie) Blackfoot, ID, Mark (Vicky) Twin Falls, ID, daughters Debby (Terry) Hall, Melba, ID Leslie (Ira) Wines, Ruby Valley, NV. 14 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by both parents, 4 sisters, 4 brothers and 2 grandchildren.

Mom was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by us.

Special thanks to the employees of Grace Assisted Living in Nampa, St. Al’s Nampa, Encompass Therapy and Hospice. Your care and services were greatly appreciated. The family would appreciate donations made to Melba Senior Center in Ruby’s name. A luncheon will be provided for all to enjoy following the graveside at the Melba Senior Center.
