Carl"Corky" Mattingly

Carl “Corky” Mattingly, 84, of Nampa, passed away on the 14th of May in Nampa, Idaho. He was born on the June 11, 1932 in Williston, North Dakota, the fourth child in a family of eight.  He married Fritz Stordalen on September 4, 1954 in Alamo, North Dakota.  To this marriage, one daughter was born, Twila, on November 25, 1955.

Corky worked for The Great Northern Railroad during his early married life, moving to Southern California in 1963 to begin his career in waste water management. Upon receiving his certification, he held various jobs, including positions in Santa Maria, CA, Oroville, CA and three years as City Manager for Dunsmuir, CA, before settling in Wallace, ID where he spent 30+ years of his career as Manager of the local sewer district.

Corky is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years in 2005; his parents, Orsina and Mary Mattingly; two sisters, Pat and Vivian and two brothers, Tom and Bill.

He is survived by one sister, Bonnie; two brothers, Cecil and Bruce; his daughter, Twila (Dave) Whitinger; four granddaughters, Lindy (Chauncey) Saunders, Lauren  (Joel) Willis, Leah (Louie) Beech and Lanie (Charles) Pollock; seven great-granchildren, Andrew, Kailer, William, Harvey, Bay, Lena and one due in July and “still cooking”.  He is also remembered by his dear friend, Carol Kamppi.

Corky was a proud veteran of the US Army’s 164 Infantry and has chosen to be interred at the Idaho State’s Veteran Cemetery in Boise in a private family ceremony at a later date.
