Carol Rae Grice

September 26, 1936 ~ October 6, 2021 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Tribute

We lost my dear Mother, Carol, on October 6th, 2021. She lived a wonderful life. She was born on September 26, 1936 on her Grandmother's 1,000 acre ranch in Laramie, Wyoming. When she was 9 years old, her family moved to Nampa, Idaho. She loves Nampa and told us endless stories of all the places that are now long gone.
She loved simple things like Green River Soda, Finger Steaks, and she worked her entire life at several jobs where she always woke before the sunrise. She was an Avon beauty consultant and an employee of Simplot and Carnation Nestle Company. She retired after 55 years of work. She once shared with me that her favorite job was delivering the fresh cut French fries from Simplot, but was always very worried about leaving the cooler on. If the fresh fries got frozen, she was afraid she would get trouble.
She was a wonderful mother, insuring that we went skating and to the movies each week, along with swimming during the summer.
She married the love of her life Manuel Grice on February 14, 1979. We lost Manuel to cancer in June and Mom went to be with him.  Both Carol and Manuel dedicated their lives to the AA and NA program. She dedicated her life to the program since the early 60's and ran meetings when no one else would. She always kept the torch burning even if it was only for one. She wrote countless letters, burning the midnight oil, pleading to congress members and judges throughout the state striving for the mandate of treatment and counseling among sentenced individuals. She understood how time sensitive and life or death these situations could be. She took all of this upon herself, and I feel this is one of the greatest accomplishments and testaments of her life. Together, Carol and Manuel loved to volunteer for several different types of services. Carol and Manuel will both be deeply missed for their service and for helping those that had no one else there for them. She is survived by her children: Betty Welles (Luna), Beverly Welles, Dan Mego, Steve Mego, Jim Case, Gerald Walton-Grice and numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Sylvia and Eldon Yeager. Her sisters, Elsie McDonald and Ellen Collins, her previous husband, Ervin Mego, and the love of her life, her husband, Manuel Grice.
This community knows these two, this couple, and the many blessings that they have bestowed upon us all. Their love for others, and their hugs that linger and could last a million years will be missed. If we could change regular time to forever time, we would choose to spend it with them.  I will miss you Momma. You and Manuel will be missed by so many. A funeral service for Carol will be held at 1PM Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel on Monday October, 25th 2021 with a visitation from 11 AM to 1PM, with graveside service to follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery. Flowers are welcome. Carol loved pink and red roses.
