Carolyn Crawford

December 24, 1940 ~ January 8, 2022 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Tribute

Carolyn D. Crawford, 81, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away at home on January 8, 2022. She spent her last days surrounded by family.

Carolyn was born December 24, 1940 to Roy E. and Lucille P. Robinson in Nampa, Idaho. As a small child, she moved with her parents and brothers Jack and Gary to Kansas, Missouri and then to a farm in Bruning Nebraska, a town founded by her great-great grandfather. The farm had been purchased from her maternal grandparents and was the home where Carolyn’s mother had been born and raised. Years later, it was where Carolyn took home her own daughter after she was born since her husband was out to sea with the Navy.

Carolyn graduated from Bruning High School in 1959. She married Stanley K. Foster Jr. in 1960. They had two children, Genelle and David. As a family in the Navy, they moved around the United States and overseas. They later divorced and in 1976 Carolyn and her kids moved back to Nampa Idaho to be near family. Carolyn met Colonel “Marty” Crawford on a blind date on New Year’s Eve in 1976. It was love at first sight and they married July 2, 1977. Together they created a blended family of her two children and Marty’s sons Paul and Jeff in which the word “step” doesn’t exist. Over the years their family has continued to grow with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and so many people they’ve gathered to their hearts and consider family. Because of her loving and giving personality, there are many people who knew the love of “Grandma Carol” even though there is no shared DNA.

Carolyn worked as a loan supervisor at Idaho First National, later named West One, until 1989 when she quit to stay home and babysit her first grandchild. She returned to the workforce in 1994, working at Canco Credit Union. She retired in 2003. Not one to be idle, she volunteered at Ronald Reagan Elementary School as a reading coach for 6 years.

Carolyn loved her Lord and enjoyed the simple things in life. She spent a lifetime camping, reading, gardening, sewing, fishing, and cooking. She made the most intricate scrapbooks for individuals and special occasions. Each of her children and grandchildren have received crocheted blankets and personal scrapbooks she made especially for them. Her best times were those spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Carolyn is survived by her husband Marty; her children Genelle (Dean) Mackey, David Foster, and Jeff (Aubrey) Crawford; her brothers Jack (Mary) Robinson, and Gary (Doris) Robinson; her grandchildren Westin, Shane, Cameron, Shaylynn, Allison, and Brock; her great-grandchildren Kallie, Blake, Karson and Oliver; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Paul M. Crawford.
