Catherine F. "Kay" DeBurkarte, 79, of Nampa, Idaho (formerly Cedar Rapids, Iowa), went to her eternal reward in heaven on December 22, 2018, at Streamside Assisted Living from complications from a stroke.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Gibson & husband Alan, and Karen Garmon & husband Rick, both of Nampa, Idaho, and 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Tammy Jakoubek & husband John of Brandon, ID; stepsons Ken DeBurkarte & wife Elizabeth of Cedar Rapids, IA; Darrell DeBurkarte & wife Cheryl of Newport, NC; Ron DeBurkarte of Butner, NC, and Dana DeBurkarte of Oxford, NC, and several step-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Stolba of Cedar Rapids and brother Tom Shaw & wife Deb from Davenport.
Kay was born on December 5, 1939 in Oelwein, Iowa, to LeRoy and Cora Shaw. She married Bernie Hearn, April 4, 1959 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1988. She married Donald DeBurkarte on May 16, 1992 in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on February 01, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Jean Myers of Cedar Rapids.
Kay worked in the offices of Cedar Rapids Merchandising for 20 years and worked for the Cedar Rapids Schools Food Department. Also, Kay was a member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years.
The funeral service will be held on January 12 at 10:30am at Oakland Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:30am at the church before the service. Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice in memory of Catherine F. DeBurkarte.
