Claude Francis Howe (Frank)

August 26, 1936- January 13, 2021

Meridian, Idaho - Claude Francis Howe, always known as Frank, passed away at the age of 84. Frank was born in Greeley, Colorado to his parents Bessy Fortin and Benny Howe. He was the oldest of his brothers; Marvin Williams of Weiser, ID and Rex Howe of Derby, KS.

Frank attended school in Nampa, Idaho. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. Throughout his service he lived in many places. Frank retired from the United States Navy with 32 years of service as an E8, Senior Chief.

In 1958 at the age of 21, Frank found his loving bride Barbara Ann Gormley, in Vancouver British Columbia. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Together they had 4 beautiful children; Cindy Howe-Koop of Redding, CA, Bob Howe of Nashville, TN, Teresa Ferrington of Redding, CA, and Scott Howe of Meridian, ID. Their loving family included 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and more to come.

In his early years Frank loved to camp and fish with his family. Frank and Barbara enjoyed traveling, especially on cruises, from Alaska to the Caribbean. Together they had many other adventures across the U.S. The two of them never once let a dance floor pass them up.

After Frank retired, they moved to Idaho, where they joined the Nampa Elks Lodge. At the Lodge they made many new friends and enjoyed volunteering for projects and events. He loved to watch all the kids and grandkids sporting events and never missed a chance to watch his Seahawks and Mariners play.

In his later years, Frank enjoyed long drives, reading, western movies, and his beloved dogs.

A celebration of his life will be planned at a later date with Military Honors. The family of Frank would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown to them during this time. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses that helped during his final hours. His wife Barbara requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Nampa Humane Society.
