Donald "Scotty" Scott Lyon

March 26, 1974 ~ May 11, 2022 (age 48) 48 Years Old

Tribute

Donald Scott “Scotty” Lyon, 48, made his final transition on Wednesday, May 11, less than a month after being diagnosed with Stage4 Melanoma. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by people who loved him.

Scott was born in El Paso, Texas. His parents separated while he was a toddler. When he was three years old his mom informed him that Mr. Lyon was going to come by to take her out for dinner. He was really excited until Mr. Lyon actually showed up – without a mane and tail. The disappointment soon turned to affection, however, and Scott was the ring bearer at the wedding three years later. He legally became Dave Lyon’s son soon after.

Growing up, Scott lived and attended schools in El Paso, Evergreen, Colorado, and Plattsburg, Missouri, then moved with his family to the Boise area in 1991. He also lived and worked in Seattle for many years before recently returning to Boise and then to his parents' home in Nampa.

Scotty is survived by his parents, David (Dave) and Martha (Jackie) Lyon, brothers Joe Lyon and David Gillespie, sisters Stephanie Lyon and Amanda Leroue, aunt Nancy Jindrich, uncles Larry Lyon and Gary Lyon, numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins. He also leaves behind many longtime, loyal friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Gillespie.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
