Tribute

Jacqueline J. McLellan, 87, formerly of Parma, passed away in Nampa on Thursday July 22, 2021. God’s angels took Jackie to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her husband, family and friends will miss her deeply! Jacqueline Schell was born July 6, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, the second eldest of four children born to Leon and Eileen Schell: two girls and two boys. She attended grade school in Roseville, Michigan and Detroit’s Highland Park High School. After graduation, Jackie left for Boston, Massachusetts where she entered Gordon College, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She taught Elementary School for 35 years in three states: Michigan, California, and Idaho. Jackie and Ken McLellan met at the Rochester Baptist Church in Michigan and were married in Pontiac August 20, 1960. She taught 1st grade at the rural Avon School and Ken was employed at the Ferry-Morse Seed Research Station. They moved to Salinas, California in 1961 and to Parma, Idaho in 1962 where they raised and educated two of the finest children ever; a son, Scott and a daughter, Patricia. For 30 years, Jackie taught the first three grades at Parma’s Maxine Johnson Elementary School, retiring in 1998. She was a Dedicated Professional who placed emphasis on Reading Skills for the purpose of helping her students be better prepared for life! Jackie loved working with children and involved them in many classroom learning activities rather than just memorizing facts. She took advantage of every opportunity to upgrade her skills by attending summer classes, workshops, and in-service training. Her peers considered Jackie a highly skilled teacher and friend, always ready and willing to share her expertise with them. She was very active in the Valley Reading Council serving as President and worked on school committees for the P.E.A. She was an active member of Roswell Baptist Church, Nyssa Baptist Fellowship, Nampa Bible Church and Treasure Valley Bible Church. Jackie and her husband Ken retired to Nampa’s Goldcrest Community in 2001.

She is survived by her immediate family; husband Ken, son Scott, daughter Patricia and husband, Navy Retired Captain David Egge and two beautiful granddaughters, Meredith and Katherine. Also, a sister Pat and sisters-in-law, Lori and Diane, and many nieces and nephews. At Jackie’s request, there will be no Memorial Service. Burial was at the Lower Boise Cemetery. Jackie would appreciate Memorial Gifts in her memory be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of West Orange County, 14391 Newland St., West Minister, CA. 92683. Thank you!
