James Arrel Dow

In Loving Memory.....

James (Jim) Dow, born in Downey, California to Donlin Gerald Dow and Viola (Helen) Dow on September 11, 1946 and spent most of his life residing in Buena Park a town he and his family loved. He died in his home in Nampa, Idaho on July 6, 2020 with his beloved family and many friends by his side. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Melody Dow, his brother, Gerald (Jerry) Dow, daughters Tammy Wiley, Jaimee Hubert and Amber Dow. He is the proud papa of 6 grandchildren, Danielle, Natalie, Christian, Landon, Parker and Chase and was looking forward to his first great grandchild in the fall. Jim's family was the most important thing to him. He leaves many family members and friends who he inspired and who loved and respected him very much!

Jim worked hard his whole life and held several jobs after starting to work at the age of 18. These jobs included Ultra Limousine, appliance repair and running a machine shop, McMal Tool, which he later purchased and owned until his retirement. Jim proudly served Buena Park, from 2000-2012 as a respected City Councilman and a 3 term Mayor. Jim was a true patriot and proudly served his community with honor. After retirement Jim and his family (and many friends) moved to Nampa, Idaho where his family resides today.

In Jim's 73 years he had many interests including old cars, 50's music, television, boating, camping, talk radio and conservative politics. His favorite food included cheeseburgers, burritos and sweets especially ice cream. Everyone looked forward to one of his favorite pass times, making breakfast for the community, family and friends. Jim was a true and loyal friend as was proven when many followed him and Melody when they left Buena Park to retire. His conservative values stayed with him throughout his life in his personal and political dealings. He was always right there when a friend needed him! Jim influenced so many people and each one has a story but his legacy is surely his love and devotion for his family and friends. Jim Dow will be missed by MANY!
