February 8, 1957 ~ April 27, 2023 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Tribute

James Wallace Lewis, a loving husband, father, and tireless public servant, passed away on April 27th, 2023, at the age of 66. Jim was raised on a dairy farm by his father Ted and mother Marjorie, alongside his younger brothers Jack and Sam.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for four years. He then pursued his higher education at Western Baptist College (now known as Corbin University), where he met his wife Donna. Jim joined the Canyon County Sheriff’s Department in Caldwell, Idaho as a police officer. He also served part-time in the Army National Guard as a tank commander. He retired as a detective from the Sheriff’s Department.

Toward the end of his military career, he transitioned to become a chaplain's assistant, serving two tours in Iraq. He retired from the US military with 35 years of honorable service.

Jim loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and camping. He and his wife Donna took their children on multiple camping trips as they grew up. As a responsible gun owner, he instilled in his children a deep respect for firearms.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Donna, and his children Andrew, Steven, and Hannah. His mother Marjorie Lewis and his brothers Jack and Sam also survive him. His daughter Naomi Lewis and his father Ted Lewis preceded him in death. After his passing, we can confidently say that he is in Heaven with Naomi and Ted because of his faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

There will be no memorial service, as Jim preferred to have his ashes scattered in Owyhee County. In his memory you can donate to the Alzheimer's Foundation and express gratitude to God for your loved ones
