Phil Lawrence, 79, passed away on July 5, 2018. He was at his home and surrounded by family.
Phil was born on February 25, 1939, the first of two sons to Floyd and Marjorie Lawrence. Phil and his brother grew up in El Segundo, California. He was a medal-winning member and captain of his high school water polo team. His love for water continued throughout his lifetime.
On August 23, 1958, he married Karen Jackson. They were married 60 years, and together raised three children. For many years, they lived in Orange, California, before moving to Colorado where they enjoyed its beauty for 36 years. They moved to Idaho in 2016.
Phil was a lifetime career newspaper pressman, where he was admired and loved by his coworkers. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed spending time camping at lakes, fishing, enjoying family gatherings, restaurant dining, family vacations, swimming, picnics at Lake Arrowhead, California and Estes Park, Colorado, iced tea, homemade ice cream, hymns, classical and jazz music, church musical productions, and spending countless hours working in his yard.
Phil had a deep love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a tremendous example of what it meant to be a Godly man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed and remembered by his wife, Karen, his children, Pam (Gordon) Malsberger, Randy (Mary) Lawrence, and Jeanine (Allen) Williamson, brother Doug (Margie) Lawrence and his grandchildren: William Malsberger, Ryan Lawrence, Anna Malsberger, Eric Malsberger, Kelsea Williamson, Steven Malsberger, Kaylee Williamson, Grady Lawrence, Padraic Lawrence and Cole Williamson, and his brother, Doug (Margie) Lawrence. He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Warner Lawrence, his mother, Marjorie Turner, his step father, Wes Turner, his step brother, Greg Turner, and his grandson, Cade Williamson.
