Phyllis May Hogan

Phyllis May Rodgers Hogan was born March 12, 1934 to Richard and Caroline Rodgers in Nampa, Idaho.  She attended local schools, graduating from Meridian High School in 1952.  She married the love of her life, Fredrick Edward Hogan, on August 7, 1953.  He preceded her in death January 19, 2008.  They had four children Debbie Wood, Peggy Daniels, Judy Jordan (Randy), and Ted Hogan, who preceded her in death.  Phyllis worked in the canneries and Bird’s Eyes first frozen food plant.  When her children were born she stayed home to care for them.  She later worked in the mobile home industry doing their interior finishing.  She then went to work for the Ada County Tax Assessors Office where she was a draftsman until her retirement in 1996.  She enjoyed volunteering in her church, especially as a wedding coordinator and in LWML and Lutheran Layman’s League.  She also enjoyed her membership in the Lady Elks.  She loved the outdoors, camping and fishing, playing cards, dominoes and other games.  She especially loved square dancing and ballroom dancing with her husband.  The joy in her life came from her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was a role model of a strong, independent, God-loving woman, always demonstrating dignity and perseverance no matter the situation. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. A service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 16th at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South, Nampa, ID 83651; followed by a graveside service at Dry Creek Cemetery. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Susan Blough and her nurse Julie, the staff of Morning Star Senior Living, and the staff of First Choice Hospice.
