Tribute

Rickey “Rick” Leroy Badley, 62, died unexpectedly of complications from cancer on March 3, 2022. He was surrounded by his wife, children and other loved ones at the time of his passing.

Rick was born in Caldwell, Idaho on March 20, 1959 to Dolores and Gerald Badley. His family moved to Oregon 10 days after his birth. They moved several times until his graduation from Bend High School in Bend, Oregon in 1978. On May 18, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart Virginia Badley. In February 1980, they welcomed their first child Stephanie into their lives and their second child Eryn in December 1981. In 1983, Rick joined the United States Army, taking the family to Virginia, Germany, Louisiana, and Washington. In October of 1987, they welcomed their last child Brett into the family. His family was one of the most important parts of his life. In 1993, while stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington the family made the decision to leave military life with an honorable discharge and return to Idaho where he worked as a Union Electrician until his medical retirement in 2021.

Rick was a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, son and union member. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, playing cards, woodworking and spending time with friends and family. Rick could often be found helping his family and friends with various projects. He would give the shirt off his own back to make sure those he cared about were taken care of.

Rick is survived by his wife, Virginia Badley; his children, Stephanie Hopkins, Eryn Rand, and Brett Badley; his grandchildren Skylar and Paige Hopkins, TJ and Emily Rand, and Payten Badley; his mother Dolores Badley and brother Brian Badley. He is predeceased by his father Gerland Badley; his grandparents Mary Badley, Herald Badley, Cena Bierman, and Clarence Bierman.

To celebrate his legacy, a memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Grace Episcopal Church in Nampa (there will be a live Facebook feed for those who are unable to attend in person). The family requests donations be sent to St. Luke's Cancer Institute of Nampa in his name in place of flowers. The Badley family gives its sincere thanks to all who stood by them in Rick’s fight with cancer over the last year.
