Sylvia Reyna Contreras

Sylvia Teresa Reyna, 55, of Nampa, Idaho went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, on October 12, 2021.

Born on January 8th to parents Jose and Rosa Reyna, Sylvia was one of 13 siblings: Norma Trevino, Jose Reyna Jr., Marylou Reyna, Linda Reyes, Robert Reyna, Sandra Lopez, Julie Reyna, Mike Reyna, Hopie S. Reyna, Nina Reyna, Carlos Reyna, Juan Reyna, and Mandy Reyna-Paine. She learned early the importance of family.

Sylvia’s greatest gift was her compassion for others, the love she had for her family, and her love for the Church. She loved to share her voice with others through song, and was never afraid to show her competitive side during the many games of BINGO shared with family. Not many people would like to admit that their own mother is their best friend, but Sylvia never shied away from telling all that she loved her mother, Rosa, with all her heart.  She raised 8 beautiful children and has continued to act as the caregiver for her daughter and her grandchildren.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her father, Jose M. Reyna, and her brother, Mike Reyna.

She is survived by her loving children: Santana Contreras, Erica Contreras, Jose Contreras, Rosebud Contreras, Ruby Contreras, Rogelio Contreras, Derek Contreras, Anna Contreras, and 14 grandchildren.

A funeral mass for Sylvia will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday October 22, 2021 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with a visitation beginning at 4:00 PM on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa.
