The year was 1935, it was time of firsts and lasts in the nation’s history.
Amelia Earhart flies for the first time across the pacific,
Parker Brothers releases the board game Monopoly,
Babe Ruth hit the 714th and final home run of his career,
But then a bright and kind smile Charlotte Smith was born April 30th 1935 to Wilbur & Stella Smith.
She was born in Snohomish, WA on a rainy Tuesday. She grew up in Lake Rossinger.
She taught herself how to swim in the creek behind her house.
Years later she met her future husband, Gordon Mann, at the Monroe Church of the Nazarene, they married 11/4/1955. They had 3 children; Teresa, Calvin and Daryl.
Before and after the kids were out of the house, Charlotte and Gordon traveled, they took cruises, toured Canada and explored the US. Her favorite state was Hawaii.
They moved to Lander, WY in 1990 where they lived for many years. Then to get away from the snow, they found themselves moving to Nampa, ID in the summer of 2003 where she lived out her remaining days.
She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart; Jessica, Kerri, Matt Tygart, Nick, Katie, Stephanie, Gordon and Alisha Mann. She adored her great-grandchildren; Haylin, Caidon, Lillian, Solomon Tygart, Eli Morris, Nathaniel and David Mann.
She was a lady who loved her family and her kitty, Angel. She also loved to work with her hands; she enjoyed gardening, embroidering, painting, baking and flipping the pages of a good Christian romance book.
She was an amazing wife, mom, grandma and great-grandma. We will miss her smile, but we will see it again soon.
Graveside services will be Monday, November 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa. Funeral services will be Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM at College Church of the Nazarene – Franklin Hall.
